HUMAN ANATOMY (from the Greek anatome – dissection) is the science of the form, structure, origin and development of organs, systems, apparatuses and the human body as a whole in connection with their functions in the historical process (phylogeny – from the greek philon – genus) and individual (ontogenesis – from the Greek ontos – creature) development (from the greek genesis – development).

Anatomy belongs to the biological sciences united by the general term “morphology” (from the greek morpho – form, logos – teaching).

The task of anatomy as a science consists in a systematic approach to the description of the form, structure and position (topography) of parts and organs of the body in unity with the performed functions, taking into account the age, gender and individual characteristics of a person. In connection with the above, anatomy is divided into systemic, topographic (surgical), aging, comparative, plastic, typical, and pathological.

Systemic anatomy examines the shape and structure of organs united into systems, therefore it includes: the study of bones (osteology) and their connections (arthrology), muscles (myology), viscera (splanchnology), the cardiovascular system (angiology), nervous system (neurology), organs of internal secretion (endocrinology) and sense organs (aesthesiology).

Functional anatomy studies the structure of organs and organ systems in connection with their function.

ORGAN (from the greek organon) is a part of the body that has a certain shape and structure, occupies a certain place in the body and performs a specific function, has vascularization and innervation. Different tissues participate in the formation of any organ, but one is the main, working one and determines the peculiarities of its structure and function.

A system of organs (systema organorum) is a set of organs that are similar in their general structure, have a common origin and perform the same function in the body. The following systems are distinguished in the human body: the skeletal system with joints, the muscular system, the digestive system, the respiratory system, the urinary system, the genital systems (male and female), the cardiovascular system with lymphoid organs and endocrine glands, the nervous system with sense organs and integument.

APPARATUS (apparatus) is a set of organs or systems that have different structures and origins, but perform a common function. For example, classically, the urinary system unites two systems of organs, anatomically and physiologically different, but closely related topographically, by their origin and partly functionally – the urinary system and the reproductive system (male or female). According to modern terminology, 4 apparats are distinguished: locomotor, visceral, I and II integrating apparatuses.

The locomotor apparatus includes the skeletal system with joints and the muscular system.

The visceral apparatus includes the digestive, respiratory, urinary, genital (male and female) systems.

Integrating apparatus I includes endocrine glands, cardiovascular system and lymphoid organs.

Integrating apparatus II includes the nervous system, sense organs and the integument (skin and breast).

4 apparats are combined into a single unit – ORGANISM.
